Doctoral students who are on doctoral grants during their parental leave are entitled to keep their grant, according to the Ordinance on Grants for Doctoral Students (SFS 1995:938, Section 4). There is no compensation from the social security office.
Doctoral students who are employed in a doctoral studentship position are entitled to parental leave, according to the Parental Leave Act. In the case of parental leave from a doctoral studentship position, compensation is paid out according to ALFA Chapter 8.
The University compensates the departments financially for doctoral students on parental leave who, according to the collective agreement and the ordinance on doctoral grants, are entitled to compensation from the University in case of parental leave.
